Taproom/Front of House Lead Wanted

WDBC is looking for an enthusiastic team-player to oversee taproom daily operations, ensure exceptional customer service, and create a welcoming and engaging environment for all. This role requires a passion for craft beer, leadership skills, and a commitment to delivering top-tier guest experience. This position will supervise taproom staff, assist in managing inventory, and ensure health, safety, and cleanliness standards are met.

Role Priorities and Responsibilities

      Customer Experience:

  • Provide a welcoming and friendly atmosphere for guests by offering expert knowledge of the brewery’s beers, history, and brewing process

  • Address customer inquiries, concerns, and feedback promptly and professionally

  • Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction and foster customer loyalty

  • Show initiative and work both independently and collaboratively

  • Maintain sobriety while working

Team Leadership:

  • Supervise, assist with training, and mentor taproom staff, ensuring they provide excellent service, adhere to company policies, and uphold brand standards

  • Lead by example, working alongside staff on the floor especially during peak hours

  • Maintain a positive, supportive work environment, promoting teamwork and morale

Operational Support:

  • Help execute and maintain templates / checklists / Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) during service to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient taproom

    • Help identify and improve SOPs where and when needed to keep up with current needs and organizational changes

  • Ability to ensure proper pours of different types of beer into different styles of glassware consistently and efficiently from staff

  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of the taproom, including tables, bar areas, restrooms, and outdoor spaces

  • Manage inventory of taproom supplies and ensure stock levels are maintained

  • Assist with maintaining beer inventory levels, monitor keg rotation, and ensure proper storage and handling of beverages

Health & Safety Compliance:

  • Monitor and enforce all safety, health, and legal regulations, including responsible alcohol service, age verification, and cleanliness standards

  • Ensure compliance with health, sanitation practices, and food safety regulations

Event and Promotion Support:

  • Lead or assist in small taproom events and tastings, as needed

  • Assist with organizing and executing larger taproom events with events coordinator

  • Help with event set-up, tear-down, and guest services during events

Administrative Duties:

  • Assist with cash handling, POS transactions, and end-of-day financial reconciliation

  • Provide daily or weekly shift reports 

  • Maintain accurate records, including inventory logs and employee hours

  • Perform other tasks as assigned

Skills & Requirements

  • Previous experience bartending or providing customer service

  • Previous management experience preferred

  • Operate a tablet-based Point of Sale system and handle cash transactions accurately and honestly

  • Ability to acquire necessary permits to serve alcohol & food

  • Ability to communicate effectively

  • Ability to maneuver full cases of beer and full kegs 

Schedule

  • Full-time, with weekend and holiday hours required. 4-5 shifts a week preferred

  • Current taproom hours are as follows:

    • Monday - Thursday: 3pm to 10pm

    • Friday - Saturday: 12pm to 11pm

    • Sunday: 12pm to 7pm

Employee Status and Compensation

  • $15+ / hour (depending on experience level) plus tips

Work Location

  • On site at Working Draft Beer Company, very occasional off-site work available
